The "IPSE" is a car designed by Jeongche Yoon and Hoyoung Kihl that turns your average drive into an adventure. IPSE's virtual environment system recognizes outside surrounding then translates into virtual objects and living things. For example, in 'underwater' mode, other vehicles appear to the driver as sea creatures. While it drives through a street in the city, the driver doesn't see any buildings, cars and asphalt-paved road but beautiful trees and wild animals running on the charming grass land.

Real Virtuality

At the Pioneer 09 science show in London on Wednesday, researchers unveiled a mock-up of a virtual-reality headset that will provide input to the five major human senses. Professor David Howard of the University of York, who's leading the project, observes that virtual-reality projects tend to focus on sight and sound. He said he's not aware of any other research group attempting to simulate sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.

Mechdyne to install virtual reality system in Tech Park
Imagine stepping into a room -- one similar to the “holodeck” of the starship Enterprise -- and performing engineering feats in three dimensions. This is what Rowan engineering students will be capable of doing once Mechdyne installs the CAVE, a fully-immersive, navigable and interactive virtual reality system.
